User Experience Designer – Learning Games

Description

Curriculum Associates is looking for a User Experience Designer to join our Learning Games team. The User Experience Designer will be heavily involved in all aspects of creating and maintaining our suite of math learning games for elementary students. You will report to our design director, and will interact closely with all disciplines across the team. This is a full time mid - senior level position in our San Francisco office.

The impact you’ll have:

You must be flexible and willing to learn, as you will work across the many design needs on the team. You will design games, write specs for features, create user flows and UI, create and export icons and in game assets, implement and animate assets in Unity, and attend user tests in classrooms. You should enjoy owning workflows and managing projects from start to finish.

What we’re looking for:

  • An online portfolio showing your skill in interaction and visual design
  • At least 3 years experience in UI, UX or Interaction design in a digital product field
  • Excellent Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • A creative and collaborative mindset
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills
  • You are passionate about helping kids learn

We’d also love to see:

  • Proficiency in using Unity (++)
  • You love games, or have worked in games
  • You can build interactive prototypes
  • You are comfortable with game design and spec writing
  • You think adapting to new skills is your superpower

The Learning Games team is a small, close-knit team who are passionate about helping kids learn in the most fun way possible. We take collaboration seriously – we do game jams, brainstorms and inspiration hours regularly, and we pride ourselves on the quality of our games and our superstar team members. We work fast and iteratively, making lots of time to check in with our audience (where we are regularly greeted with applause and cheers when we user test).
