Description

The Associate Director of Policy and State Initiatives is a strong leader with a deep understanding of state/federal level assessment, data, curriculum, and policy knowledge. The position reports to the Vice President of Government Relations and works cross-functionally to achieve goals. This leader will focus on building strategies and materials to increase recognition and market share for Curriculum Associates at the state and national levels.

The Impact you'll have:

  • Conduct research and analysis into nationally available information to assist in carrying out policy, state program, and influence related projects.
  • Draft, conduct research for, and help develop content for national and state level one-pagers, talking points, issue briefs, related charts and visuals, and infographics to be used with selected internal or external audiences to advance Curriculum Associates policy and influence activities.
  • Develop, proof-read, fact-check and review documents, presentations, and data analysis on behalf of the Government Relations (GR) department for use with State Departments of Education (DOEs), Legislators, Governor’s Education Teams, and other state and national level stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of major new influence, policy, and program team initiatives.
  • Be an expert on the company’s products, solutions, the issues faced by state DOEs and the latest national and state trends in curriculum and assessment.
  • Work with internal teams to manage the creation of GR’s social media content including message development, content review, and editing in partnership with Marketing, Strategy, and Research Teams to ensure content is timely and relevant.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders such as Strategy, Thought Leadership, Assessment Marketing, etc. to support Government Relations projects.
  • Manage the process to create State level data visualizations and quality assurance in partnership with the Research Team.  
  • Proactively share market trends, industry news, and competitive information with leadership to impact future CA offerings and solutions.
  • Work with the Government Relations Team and Marketing to provide support for the implementation of partnership agreements with key national education organizations such as CCSSO, NGA, NCSL, ECS, NASBE, C4C, etc.
  • Develop and champion Curriculum Associates’ National Policy Agenda in partnership with internal teams
What we're looking for:
  • Work with data sets to develop content and visualizations
  • Create written materials appropriate for national and state leaders
  • Successful experience working directly with senior-leadership stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Possess a deep understanding of national and state level educational assessments, curriculum, and policy
  • Strong listening and communication skills – both oral and written
  • Proficient with Programs and Applications like Outlook, SalesForce.com, Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint MS Project)
  • Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years’ equivalent experience working with national/state level education entities

  • Experience with assessments, curriculum, and data.
