Director of Strategy, English Language Arts (ELA)

We are looking for a strategic lead to fill a full-time position. The Director of Product Management, English Language Arts (ELAresponsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

Impact you’ll have:

  • Develops the strategy for a product line – how the product will evolve, what needs it will fulfill. 
  • Owns the product roadmap (or a subset of the product roadmap) for a given product line – what we’ll build; how it’ll work; what we’ll deliver and when (big picture).
  • Owns the product research strategy; builds deep understanding of educators and students – what goals they are trying to achieve, what needs and challenges they face, what resources and products they have available to them today.
  • Stays closely connected to educators, field team members, and key stakeholders to ensure that well-rounded perspectives drive product priorities.
  • Collaborates with marketing to drive field training and go-to-market planning, working closely with PD and AM teams to prepare for key product launches and implementation planning.
  • Supports definition of product stories and development of front matter content.

What we’re looking for:

Successful candidates will demonstrate a record of achievement: 

  • 10-12 years professional experience in education with a minimum of 3-5 years in educational publishing.
  • Extensive knowledge of current national reading content standards as well as widely accepted current best practices such as those outlined in Put Reading First, and the Common Core State Standards.
  • Deep understanding and insight into the core/basal and supplemental reading markets.
  • Track record of launching market leading products with both print and digital components.
  • Proven ability to lead both internal and external teams with excellent management skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders from across the organizations and derive a product roadmap that fulfills pedagogical, market, and existing customer needs.
  • Ability to initiate, foster, maintain, and manage others toward positive working relationships with all cross-functional internal teams and external vendors.
  • Proven success delivering high quality product and program components in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with training teams and ensuring everyone on the team understands and can effectively communicate product vision, goals, and expectations to internal and external customers.
  • A passion for innovation and deep commitment to K-12 students, teachers, and administrators.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Constant curiosity, and a commitment to learning and sharing knowledge.
  • Masters degree in education preferred.
