Department: Transmission & Distribution Planning

Employment Status: Fulltime

Salary: CI$5,630 to CI$7,319 per month

Work Environment: Hybrid/Satellite

Corporate – Workspace is primarily in the Administrative Building

In Field – Workspace is primarily Off Site at various locations around the island

Plant Area- Workspace is primarily in the Power Plant Area

Hybrid – Workspace is a combination of in the Administrative Building and in the Field or in the Plant Area

Satellite - Workspace is offsite at a CUC Satellite location

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Develop and oversee capital project scheduled for upgrade/replacement projects, ensuring milestones align with department budgetary goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
    • Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and address shifting priorities
  • Organizing, coordinating and guiding a team of Engineering Technologists
    • Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to safety, quality and operational standards
    • Conduct regular team meetings
  •  Act as a support resource for any reliability or maintenance issues on the T&D network.
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid reliability concerns, project delays or cost overruns.
  • Identifying and facilitating training and development for direct reports in relation to:
    • Load growth studies, feeder load balancing, transformer sizing, switching, protection coordination, thermal scanning and working policies and guidelines for the department.
  • Ensuring infrastructural requirements are communicated to obtain easements and permission to cut/trim trees and/or to place poles and anchors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Graduate Engineer or a 3-4-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in T&D design, estimating and project management. 
  • Knowledge of T&D standards, equipment, operations, and construction. 
  • Experience with T&D software packages such as Partner, Windmill, etc. Microsoft Office Suite, etc. 
  • Supervisory experience, preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills (people/performance management and team building)
  • Strong organizational skills for supporting mltiple projects
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and delegate the work of others in order to achieve department and organizational objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize requirements to maximize the deployment to critical areas.
  • Manage project performance and report project status. 
  • Promotes collaboration and teamwork among employees.
