SUMMARY: 

CSM Group is seeking a motivated Data & AI Intern to support our growing data analytics, business intelligence, automation, and artificial intelligence initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with real construction and business data while contributing to projects that improve decision-making, operational performance, and project delivery. 

The Data & AI Intern will work closely with Project Controls and other internal stakeholders to help transform data into meaningful insights, support reporting and dashboard development, improve data quality, and assist with the evaluation and implementation of emerging AI technologies. 

This role is ideal for a student who enjoys solving problems, working with data, learning new technologies, and collaborating across multiple business functions. The internship also provides exposure to the construction management industry and the growing role of technology, analytics, and AI within project delivery and business operations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Business Intelligence & Reporting 

• Assist with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reports. 
• Support reporting efforts by validating data accuracy and identifying opportunities for improvement. 
• Test dashboard functionality and user experience to ensure reliable performance. 
• Help document reporting processes, calculations, and data definitions. 

Data Analytics 

• Collect, clean, organize, and analyze data from various business systems, including project management and operational platforms. 
• Perform data validation and quality checks to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and reporting issues. 
• Assist with data modeling and reporting efforts that support project and business decision-making. 
• Create visualizations and summaries that communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. 

Artificial Intelligence & Innovation 

• Support AI initiatives through research, testing, and evaluation of new tools and technologies. 
• Assist with pilot programs that explore practical AI applications across the business. 
• Help prepare datasets and documentation for AI-related projects. 
• Contribute findings and recommendations based on testing and analysis. 

Automation & Process Improvement 

• Identify repetitive reporting and data management processes that may benefit from automation. 
• Support initiatives focused on improving efficiency and reducing manual effort. 
• Assist with workflow documentation and process optimization projects. 

Documentation & Knowledge Management 

• Develop and maintain documentation for dashboards, workflows, data sources, and business processes. 
• Ensure reporting tools and solutions are clearly documented to support long-term maintenance and adoption. 

             Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Work with Project Controls and other departments to understand business needs and reporting requirements. 
• Assist stakeholders in translating business questions into meaningful analyses and solutions. 
• Present project updates, findings, and completed work to team members and leadership as appropriate. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in:  
• Data Analytics 
• Business Analytics 
• Data Science 
• Computer Science 
• Information Systems 
• Engineering 
• Mathematics 
• Statistics 
• Or a related field 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
• Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. 
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and business processes. 

Preferred but not required: 

• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence and visualization tools.  
• Exposure to SQL, Python, Power Query, DAX, or similar data technologies.  
• Familiarity with data modeling, reporting, and analytics concepts.  
• Interest in artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies.  
• Experience working with large datasets.  
• Interest in construction management, project controls, or operational analytics.

While performing this job, the employee may be regularly required to drive to and from the jobsites/assigned locations, sit, walk, stand, talk, hear, and smell. A major portion of the employees’ tasks require extensive walking around the jobsite, including active construction areas. The employee is required to traverse uneven terrain and work from ladders, scaffolds, and other structures, as well as work at variable heights. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle tools, controls, and for fine motor coordination like computer work. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

For Field positions, while performing this job, the employee must frequently inspect the project site and may be exposed to ongoing construction activities, vibrations, noise, and various outside weather conditions (in all seasons). Work environment involves moderate risks which may require safety precautions. The noise level in the work environment may range from quiet to loud.  The proper use of Personnel Protective Equipment (including but not limited to safety boots, hardhat, and protective eyewear) is required on the jobsite.
