Job Summary:

The primary function of the Medical Affairs Clinical Education Manager is to lead focused initiatives designed to enhance customer engagement across multiple channels. This leader will also be responsible for increasing the clinical acumen within the Medical Affairs team by strategically engaging in and driving initiatives that will fill the gaps identified in strategic plan.  This individual will be interfacing with internal departments as well as physicians to ensure we continue to build the CSI Education brand and reinforce best clinical practice across all Professional Education Programs.

The Medical Affairs Clinical Education Manager will be responsible for leading physician consultant activities to ensure we are incorporating physician feedback into all aspects of Professional Education.   This role will collaborate closely with the following functions to ensure consistent guidance for clinical application based on direct experience (Global Professional Education, Medical & Scientific Communications, Marketing, Sales Training, Engineering, and other functions).

This role requires a level of independent work and leadership skills required to drive deliverables and gain alignment across multiple functions as well as maintain an open channel of communication with key stakeholders to ensure alignment.  This role requires strong interpersonal skills to influence and gain support from team members where there is not a direct reporting relationship.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development of a Fellows education strategy and program design for FY20 execution
  • Design a comprehensive strategy and curriculum that outlines key education programs and objectives throughout the length of a Fellowship
  • Build a strategy, in collaboration with Marketing, to identify top Academic Institutions (AI) and segment Fellows according to their learning needs and opportunity within their AI
  • Work closely with the Curriculum Manager to build out content gaps to ensure clinical relevance, incorporate new products and build key Physician Advisor relationships
  • Build a business partnership with Industry partners (SCAI, CRF, CRT) to reinforce CSI Fellows strategy
  • Periodic Task Force participation to ensure clinical applications of CSI products are represented appropriately to the broader organization
  • Build key Physician Advisor relationships which allow the voice of the customer to be reflected in CSI curriculums for Professional Education
    • Increase Allied Health Professional engagement with a robust CEU strategy
    • Proactively identify the next level need for customers and design the associated curriculum
    • Proactively identify customized training pathways (CCP, CLI) to address specific targeted customer needs
  • Design and execute society sponsored CSI education programs (Training Villages, Learning Suites, Fellows certification, Cadaver workshops, etc.) to include Faculty prep
  • Participate in relevant Prof Ed Programs on a consistent basis to provide case guidance, insert key clinical messaging and enhance the clinical understanding of the Prof Ed Managers
  • Leverage individual clinical expertise to increase procedural knowledge across Medical Affairs
  • Upon request, participate in International rotations to keep clinical skills current
  • Identify curriculum enhancement needs based on clinical skills and field knowledge
    • Partner with Curriculum Manager- bring reality to life in curriculum design
    • Incorporate the Voice of the Customer (Physician and Sales) where appropriate
  • Upon request, provide LMR case coverage and clinical protocol training for customers
  • Serve as a primary consultant and reviewer of the Case Study Library
  • Participate in supporting patient safety and analysis initiatives to include customer feedback
  • Participate in patient safety review process
    • Identifying possible technique errors and procedural best practice that can be incorporated in CSI Educational materials
    • Provide customer response and education at the account level

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Successful Job Performance:

  • Bachelor’s-level degree in science/health related field  
  • Minimum of 5 years medical device business experience, or equivalent, including marketing, sales, clinical/lab experience, and/or professional education experience
  • Desired experience in the coronary and/or vascular space, with a focus in interventional treatment options
  • Ability to establish a solid clinical & procedural knowledge base
  • Ability to foster collaboration, influence others outside of reporting structure and work collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple programs
  • Experience in building relationships across various levels within the organization, as well as external customers and medical professionals
  • Strong ability to execute within defined project timelines
  • Strong ability to build positive relationships and improve business results in a matrix organizational structure
  • Poses clear communication skills to update senior management upon request  
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Self-motivated and directed 
  • Ability to schedule minimum of quarterly visits to CSI HQ for team meetings
  • Ability to travel on average 50%, which could include international travel
