Position Summary

Crystal Dynamics is looking for a Gameplay Systems Engineer to work on a cross-disciplinary gameplay team. This position involves close collaborations with designers and engineers to create fun and engaging gameplay features and world systems that a player interacts with directly.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Building systemic gameplay and world systems that populate the game world with compelling activities and experiences (including player, AI, combat, aiming, locomotion and traversal mechanics) 
  • Design and implement reliable, maintainable, and bug-free code 
  • Iterate on game play functionality to “find the fun” 
  • Build code that is performant for CPU and networking 
  • Collaborate in a rapidly iterative environment 

Essential Requirements 

  • 2+ years of professional games industry experience building systemic gameplay and world systems (ie player, AI, combat, aiming, locomotion and traversal mechanics) 
  • C++ programming experience 
  • Solid 3D mathematics skills 
  • A strong passion for gaming including the ability to analyze competitive titles 
  • Experience programming in Unreal Engine

Bonus Skills and Experience 

  • Console development experience 
  • Shipped one or more AAA titles using a proprietary or commercial game engine 
  • Good debugging and optimization skills
