Position Summary

Crystal Dynamics is looking for an experienced Senior Graphics Engineer to work in our shared technology group as an expert in rendering technologies. In this position you will collaborate with other Engineers on the rendering team, as well as engineers, designers, and artists on cross-disciplinary game teams. Ideally you will be both creative and practical, with an ambition to advance next generation rendering for future games. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on rendering technologies
  • De-construct tasks into their fundamental elements and estimate time and resource needs to complete accurately
  • Provide technical guidance to content creators for new features
  • Interface with external console and GPU developers (Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia, AMD, etc.)
  • Identify bottlenecks quickly, be performance driven
  • Add and enhance functionality of Unreal engine
  • Implement custom shaders for in-game effects (particles, post processing, lighting, etc.)
  • Support artists, designers, and programmers with technical issues related to rendering technologies
  • Write clean, comprehensible, and optimized cross-platform code
  • Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to complex problems

Competencies, Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to assist other programmers on defining robust and efficient solutions for systems and tasks
  • Good eye for pixel accuracy
  • Familiarity with current high-end rendering techniques
  • Strong understanding of the DirectX and/or PlayStation rendering pipeline
  • Excellent communication skills with team members across differing levels and disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of C++ and HLSL
  • Strong time management skills
  • Good problem solver. Thinking outside the box highly encouraged
  • Highly developed collaborative skillsets, preferably with cross-functional teams

Essential Requirements

  • Solid vector and matrix mathematics fundamentals
  • At least 6 years of gaming industry experience, with a focus in rendering or in graphics engineering
  • Experience working with DirectX11 or 12, or generation 8/9 game consoles (Xbox One/Series X/S, PS4/PS5)
  • At least one shipped high-quality AAA game title
