Position Summary

Crystal Dynamics is looking for an outstanding and talented Visual FX Artist to work with our development team on creating world class action adventure games. The successful VFX Artist needs to have experience with particle editing, texture creation and real-time materials and will have both a strong creative and technical background. This VFX Artist with be able to conceptualize, present, and execute ideas within a schedule, while actively participating in technical and artistic problem solving, and will be able to partner with multiple disciplines to meet project specific needs. They will be able to quickly understand custom toolsets and deliver assets within the confines of real time engine constraints and programming demands. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create high quality textures, materials and vfx mesh assets
  • Confidently work with visual scripting logic and material systems.
  • Ability to create fluid simulations in Houdini, Maya or Embergen to for real-time flipbooks.
  • Ability to take the vfx creation process from concept to a completed state.
  • Communicate with Artists, Designers, and Programmers to work through artistic and technical challenges
  • Work with the Lead VFX artist and production to estimate and schedule tasks

Essential Requirements

  • At least 4 years of video game development experience in a related position
  • Experience with particle creation in a 3D application or real-time game engine
  • Willingness to work with a proprietary tools

Pluses

  • HLSL shader creation experience
  • Experience with Houdini
  • Experience developing for the current console generation

 * A portfolio related to visual effects including examples of game VFX is required to be considered for this position.
