Position Summary

The Cinematographer, working under the Cinematic Director, is both knowledgeable and passionate about visual storytelling and game design. Our ideal candidate would own and drive cinematic sequences as they are pitched, planned, and executed throughout production. You should be able to demonstrate strong skills in camera blocking, staging, composition, lighting, and editing to help create strong crafted narrative moments featured within our cinematic cutscenes, vignettes, and much more.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Break down scripts and utilize storyboards to create cinematic sequences that best tell the story and consider every discipline as we work with multiple departments toward a common vision 
  • Be a strong creative collaborator, with the ability to pitch your ideas verbally as well as taking feedback from other disciplines  
  • Direct the development of assets needed to build scenes including environments, props, characters, and vfx 
  • Help direct performers during rehearsal and shoots to ensure we get the best data so we can quickly build scenes in Maya and/or Motionbuilder 
  • Assist with preparation for performance capture shoots by gathering necessary assets such as sets, characters and props 
  • Communicate clearly with production staff to keep our team on schedule and raise concerns as necessary 
  • Improve our camera tools and documentation to create better workflows for artists across the studio  
  • Deliver assets within the confines of real time engine constraints and programming demands 

Essential Requirements 

  • 3-5 years experience in a previs/layout/cinematographer role 
  • Solid understanding of cinematic and editorial techniques 
  • A strong sense of timing and composition with a good eye for details 
  • Knowledge of real world lenses, cameras rigs and operation 
  • Working knowledge of Maya, MotionBuilder and Adobe Premiere 
Preferred Requirements 
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine
