Lead Level Designer

Position Summary:

Crystal Dynamics is looking for a Lead Level Designer with proven expertise in games that include a strong multiplayer experience. This individual will thrive in cross-departmental communication on a variety of teams while simultaneously solving multiple problems daily. We are looking for highly collaborative, passionate and motivated candidates capable of overseeing content and ensuring content fits within the gameplay vision and visual esthetics of the teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work in close collaboration with Leads and Directors on a joint creative and technical effort to build combat spaces from initial concept to complete polished form 
  • Conceptualize, present and execute ideas within a schedule; while actively participating in technical and gameplay problem solving and iteration based on playtest and feedback
  • Work directly in 3d editors to craft block out  
  • Layout fundamentally sound combat spaces with strong sensibility for traversal routes, cover locations, distributed engagement ranges and positional advantages
  • Polish your craft delivering stand out combat venues from those initial layouts; working in close collaboration with concept artists, designers and environment artists

Competencies, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong spatial sense and an eye for good composition
  • Utilizes their subject matter expertise and pairs that with strong data and analytics for amazing player experiences that are immersive, exciting and fun
  • Manage/mentor other Level Designers
  • Ability to assess multiple AAA and other titles with an ability to speak to strengths and/or weaknesses of various genres and combat spaces
  • Strong ability to motivate and inspire others

Position Requirements: 

  • 6+ years experience in Senior or Lead Level Design capacity with strong samples of multiplayer work on at least 2 shipped AAA titles 
  • Deep knowledge of both historical and current trends in multiplayer level design
  • 3d Editor and Visual Level Editor experience required
