Position Overview:    
The EVP, Regulatory Affairs Counsel is responsible for ensuring that company’s compliance management program comports with federal and state law. This role will provide leadership and direction by developing cross-departmental relationships to ensure that Company is adhering to applicable state and federal regulations.    
    
Job Responsibilities:    
  • Provide compliance and legal advice as apart of Company’s strategic planning process, including the development of new products, programs, and technology for originations and servicing activities from development to implementation.
  • Plan, develop, monitor, revise, and implement compliance initiatives in response to changes in the law; consults with various representatives, both internal and external, as necessary, to ensure compliance program effectiveness.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with all executives, business leadership, and stakeholders to ensure consistent understanding of compliance and legal requirements.
  • Provide expert legal guidance in response to regulatory examination findings, regulatory or consumer complaints, or inquiries from stakeholders or counterparties.
  • Provide support and develop solutions related to regulatory findings identified through examination, testing, and monitoring, including root cause of issues and associated remediation.
  • Evaluate and implement compliance technologies to make compliance with requirements to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Provide compliance oversight for use of technology in originations including the Company’s LOS, point of sale system, and proprietary technology solutions.
  • Draft policies and procedures to address federal and state regulatory requirements ensuring both accuracy and understandability across the organization.
  • Ensure that all state and federal disclosures issued by the Company meet all regulatory requirements and that the Company is complying with all state and federal fee and fee change requirements.
  • Lead and manage a team of compliance professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and support.
    
Qualifications and Skills:    
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in mortgage lending compliance, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Knowledge of federal and state mortgage lending regulations, including but not limited to Dodd Frank Wallstreet Reform Act, QM/ATR, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, UDAAP, and SAFE Act.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing effective compliance programs in the mortgage lending industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
