As a Sensory Sciences Specialist at Cronos Group, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our sensory analysis operations, ensuring the smooth execution of sensory studies. This role involves a high level of organization, precision, strong organization and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment. This position is highly public facing, involving the recruitment and ongoing management of sensory participants from the public. This role is located in Toronto, ON, and the daily schedule is variable, depending on sensory session schedule.

What you’ll be doing:

Sensory Study Execution:

  • Assist sensory manager in the execution of major sensory studies, collection of data, cleaning of data and preliminary analysis. Lead the execution of minor sensory studies, collection of data, cleaning of data and preliminary analysis.
  • Support sensory manager on compiling results and delivery to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external partners to coordinate various sensory activities, such as recruitment, booking sensory venues. And other activities as required.

Administration of records for Health Canada compliance:

  • Organize and manage all necessary records and documentation in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and readiness for Health Canada audits.
  • Support the preparation of cannabis information form (CIF) to Health Canada, maintaining close collaboration with Regulatory Affairs (RA) on submission timings and follow-ups.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date log of the CIFs for the applicable licences.

Informed Consent Form (ICF) Administration:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all study participants.
  • Organize and manage informed consent forms to ensure compliance and readiness for audits.

Sensory Recruitment, Coordination, & Logistics:

  • Lead the recruitment and administrative logistics for sensory sessions, involving significant interaction with the public. This includes participant contact, participant screeners, and follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary contact for checking in participants, administering informed consent forms, and organizing sensory testing devices.
  • Facilitate the administration of samples during sessions while capturing and documenting results from participants.
  • Responsible for managing a participant panel database, including continuous engagement and communication.

Sample Management:

  • Receive and log incoming samples, coordinate the submission process, and manage inventory.
  • Ensure samples are appropriately logged for consumption and scheduled for destruction as required.

Facility Management:

  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the sensory study spaces to ensure a conducive environment for sensory evaluations.

You’ll need to have:

  • 5 or more years of proven experience in coordination and/or administration roles, preferably within a sensory science or research environment.
  • Cannabis industry experience is an asset.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Science or related discipline preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc)
  • Ability to conduct independent data analysis and clean-up in data analysis software solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with participants and team members
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance in all documentation and procedures.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing schedules of sensory sessions (evenings and weekends)
  • Recruiting for sensory or market research purposes
  • Experience with management and coordination of an online panel or participant database
