Lead UI/UX Artist – New Sci-fi FPS IP

Creative Assembly's award-winning team behind Alien Isolation are exploring new frontiers with a brand new and exciting First-Person Shooter IP.

Creative Assembly are looking for a creative and passionate individual who enjoys working with designers and programmers to translate game design requirements into great user experiences. You will be responsible for the visual communication of information to the player across the game.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, accomplished UI Artist to make their mark on the new, undisclosed IP from Creative Assembly’s multi-award-winning team.

Working with the Art Director, the Lead UI/UX Artist will lead and mentor a small team to create a world class user experience and a uniquely identifiable visual style.

Key Responsibilities 

As a Lead UI/UX artist, you will be an enthusiastic developer who has a full appreciation and understanding how excellent UI can positively impact on the player experience.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Be consulting widely to gather UI requirements. Such as developing wireframes, maintaining consistent UX patterns, iterating designs through prototyping
  • Develop style guides / visual designs and managing the final implementation to ensure the designs are flawless and frictionless
  • Lead a team with passion and enthusiasm, giving effective direction and feedback to experienced artists and mentor developing junior artists
  • Demonstrate your expertise through an outstanding portfolio, sharing artistic flair with a keen eye for composition, clarity, and usability
  • Communicate effectively, present ideas confidently and champion the UX strategy across the team
Good organisation, time management and prioritisation skills are key to this role.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

  • Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing other artists
  • Proven UI/UX experience from concept to delivery on at least one shipped title
  • Excellent graphic design skills – typography, iconography, layout, colour theory
  • Expert in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Motion design experience
  • Solid understanding of UX methodologies and how they apply to game UI design
  • Wireframing experience for console games
  • Good technical knowledge of UI development practices
  • Exceptional UI portfolio
  • An appreciation for games, with discerning eye for good user interface design
  • An understanding of user research methods
  • Experience with a 3D package such as 3dsmax or Maya
  • HMTL5, CSS, Javascript experience
