Mid to Senior Animation Programmer

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Animation Programmer, to join the team behind Total War, Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2 on an exciting new project in its early prototyping phase, iterating rapidly to create compelling gameplay experiences with a small cross-discipline team, working in Unreal Engine 5. The project is based at our headquarters in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex, however this role may be based either in Horsham, or at CA North in Newcastle, UK. This can be discussed upon application.
We’re building an agile team focused on continuous improvement and the ideal candidate will have a passion for learning, innovation and developing simple, powerful solutions to complicated problems. The successful candidate will be able to make substantial contributions to the game's animation systems and features, building up core functionality and supporting animators deliver on the vision for the game.
This is a broad role in terms of experience, and we will consider mid-level candidates, as well as senior or principal level.

This role is Hybrid and has an expectation of 1 day every 2 weeks in our Horsham studio. This role would consider fully remote working within country of employment. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Work closely with the animation team, including technical artists and riggers to inform and support the development of key animation features for the game
- Be responsible for the technical aspects of shaping the animation systems throughout all areas of the game
- Aid other team members in using the animation systems you have put in place, to maintain a standard of performance and quality.
Essential
- Extensive professional C++ programming experience
- Experience developing animation systems
- Good understanding of character animation and locomotion systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable effective collaboration across the project.
- Experience in using Unreal Engine 4 or 5 to develop animation systems
- Development experience on consoles
- Experience with network replication in Unreal 4 or 5
- Passionate about games and solving technical problems.
