This team takes a disciplined, financially sustainable, and hands-on approach.
The Underwriting Team is responsible for the collection, review and evaluation of risk exposure to loss, creating insurance coverage, terms and conditions to meet the needs of current and prospective policyholders. The Commercial Lines Assistant provides administrative and technical support to Commercial Lines Underwriters by performing various tasks to facilitate the underwriting function.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Request, gather, evaluate and document underwriting information from agency on insured or prospective insureds as needed
- Perform prep work on new and renewal business including evaluation of loss experience, highlighting details of exposure, follow-up on outstanding underwriting information and general assessment of coverage and pricing for underwriting review
- Order and analyze underwriting reports for review by underwriters
- Independently review and assess completed loss control/risk management reports
- Analyze and process endorsements requested based on authority level and completed within a prescribed timeframe Establish and foster a positive and collaborative working relationship with agency staff, billing and claims staff Complete special projects as needed.
- Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree and/or combination of education & experience considered
- 2+years experience in insurance property & casualty industry preferred, related experience considered
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Currently, hybrid work environment, which requires working in CIC's office Tuesdays through Thursdays and flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Salary Range: $46,000 - $58,000
