Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.
                                                                                                                                                         
 
The Investments Group is responsible for the prudent investment of the retirement, health, and insurance portfolios supporting the clergy and lay employees of The Episcopal Church. The VP Head of Operations, as a member of the Risk Management team in the Investments Group, oversees the implementation of adequate controls to support investment transactions, valuations, and performance. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
 
  • Primary relationship responsibility with Northern Trust (custodian)
  • Management of transactions and operational controls
  • Operational Due Diligence (ODD) review
  • Budget and expense control
  • Support Investments Group during audits and reviews
  • Assist with compliance function
  • Assist in the quarterly preparation of materials for Board of Trustees meetings
  • Prepare Quarterly Portfolio Asset Summary (PAS)
  • Assist with production of Defined Contribution plan information
  • Other reporting requirements
  • Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

  • Intermediate computer skills 
  • Intermediate – advanced Excel 
  • Understanding of finance and accounting principles 
  • Knowledge of process controls 
  • Demonstrate an interest and ability to learn new programs and investment systems 
  • Focus on accuracy and ability to meet deadlines 
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
 
  • B.S. or B.A. required, in finance or accounting preferred
  • 10+ years of financial services experience preferred 
  • CPA a plus 
 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Commuting to the NY office, on average, three days a week. Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid (two days working from home, three days working in a standard office environment). Salary Range: $220,000 - $240,000
