Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

 

The Benefits Business Operations strategy includes leveraging demographic and utilization of data to assist in the functional areas of compliance, statutory & tax filing, plan design, pricing, reserving and predictive modeling, medical management, and member wellness through monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on data aggregated in a central utilization database and other source systems.        
       
The Sr. Business Analyst is responsible for all facets of benefit businesses, monthly financial closing, end to end benefit payment process, business statistics and claims utilization. Analysis will be provided in a variety of monthly executive summaries with high level themes, to detailed performance benefit products, trends, and forecasting, to illustrative and presentation formats.       
       
They are accountable for development of programming for enhancement of process and procedures and new initiative with the Cash Management team. This position will work closely with the Compliance, Client Services, Benefits Policy, Corporate Finance, Business and Data Operations departments and ITS as well as with various vendor partners to validate data used reports and invoices for making payments for benefit businesses.       
       
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.       
       
  • Lead the preparation and support of E2E for all financials, monthly/quarterly/annually.  
  • Lead monthly pension benefit payments and funding of assets.         
  • Works directly with vendors to execute and implement system changes.        
  • Lead and guide enhancement to process and procedures.        
  • Responsible for analytics and reconciliation.       
  • Responsible for New Business payments and internal mapping to financials.       
  • Responsible for the collection of overpayments for the Pension Plan.       
  • Audit responsibilities.       
  • Reviews quality assurance reports relating to group products.        
  • Lead self-development to increase and broaden knowledge/expertise in regulatory compliance updates and the finance discipline.        
  • Effective performance o the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of internal and external relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, SAP, state, and federal laws and/or cash management, banking environments and investment applications and accounting.       
  • Strong knowledge of workflows and internal accounting controls.        
  • Ability to assist in the development and execution of financial and strategic plans within corporate standards, policies, and guidelines.        
  • Strong knowledge of the industry and internal business operations.       
  • Strong decision-making, negotiation, business communications, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.        
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to develop relationships with other functional areas (i.e., actuarial, legal, systems, etc.) and external business contacts.       
  • Ability to understand database programs and to query data sets for programming      reports.       
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), especially Excel functionality (e.g., pivot tables).        
  • Team player who can work with both internal and external colleagues in a collaborative fashion.       
  • Understanding of financial and products of Medical, Life & Annuity and Pension products.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE        
  • 8+ years of finance-related, compliance and actuarial experience required
  • Prior experience with a financial, insurance or other related industry preferred.
  • BA/BS in a financial discipline preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Professional finance certification preferred, or be willing to work toward one after hiring

 Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000
