Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.
  

  
The Director of Applied Business Solutions will lead the strategic development and execution of comprehensive and advanced business solutions, championing innovative approaches to problem-solving and operational excellence. This role demands a visionary and results-oriented approach, adept in the practical application of business strategies and their seamless integration across the company's operations. The Director will foster collaboration across operations teams, product owners, technical teams, and leadership, ensuring alignment with objectives across supported business and corporate units. This role is responsible for guiding the Applied Business Solutions team in the formulation and execution of detailed business requirements, the capture of complex process flows, and the assurance that initiatives are grounded in a deep understanding of business operations and intelligence, ultimately delivering significant value.  
  
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  
  • Strategic Vision and Leadership in Business Solutions: Lead the identification, documentation, and strategic alignment of business requirements, serving as the primary bridge between business units and Information Technology & Services (ITS) teams to ensure effective communication and understanding of requirements among all stakeholders.
  • Transformational Leadership in Business Processes: Direct initiatives for the thorough analysis, documentation, and ongoing enhancement of business processes and procedures. Advocate for and implement innovative process strategies that align with and accelerate the achievement of the supported business and corporate units’ goals.
  • Oversight of Business Initiatives: Oversee and lead business enhancements and initiatives, ensuring they are in line with vision, executed on time, and that team efficiency and progress are monitored and optimized.
  • KPI Development and Management Reporting: Work closely with stakeholders to define, measure, and monitor key performance indicators, providing strategic insights through advanced management reports and dashboards.
  • Cultivation of Business Acumen: Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing, mentoring team members in enhancing their business expertise.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay informed of industry trends. Lead forward-thinking, data-driven initiatives to enhance business operations.
  • Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of internal and external relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • 10+ years of experience in business analysis, business process improvements, operational excellence, and project delivery. 
  • Previous supervisory experience required. 
  • Experience in benefits industry is preferred. 
  • Certifications in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) and Project Management (e.g., PMP) are a plus. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other related fields preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  
  
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   
Commuting to the office, on average, three days a week. Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Hybrid (two days working from home, three days working in a standard office environment, Tue-Thurs.). Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000
