Buyer's Assistant - Prime Vendor
Description
Coastal Pacific Food Distributors (CPFD) has Full-Time, Buyers Assistant position open in the Stockton CA Corporate Office, The schedule is Monday-Friday, day shift. The buyers assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the buying department. Execute day-to-day tasks necessary to assist the buying teams along with basic knowledge of food service.
Rate of Pay:
- Starting rate is $20 - $25/hr.
- Yearly annual increases every January

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Acts as a key support person for Prime Vendor suppliers. Assisting the buyers.
- Sets up and maintains a database to support new item placements.
- Database entry and maintenance.
- Maintains PV computer records and paper files.
- Interface with the vendor community and their broker representatives
- Preparation and issuance of periodic series of reports (daily, weekly and monthly) whose basic data is extracted from several computer sources. A large portion of the reporting is forwarded to parties within the company and must be prepared in an accurate and professional manner.
- Works closely with warehouse personal to verify receipt of items ordered, shipped and the shelf life of products. Ensures timely shipments, coordinating with warehouse inventory control and shipping.
- Performs other related clerical and administrative support work as required in the completion of assigned tasks.
- Confirm and verify pricing on all PO’s, submit price changes to the Cataloging department
Job Requirements:
Education. High school education or equivalent work experience.
Experience. Position requires one (1) or more years’ clerical and administrative experience, including direct interaction with customers and at least (2) or more years working in or around the Food Service industry
Skills and Abilities. Demonstrated clerical skills including typing and ten-key calculator by touch. Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and email to provide a high level of customer service. Possess the ability to perform detailed work and detect discrepancies on documents and reports. Demonstrated numerical aptitude. Oral and written communication skills as well as analytical and organizational skills required. Must have ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. PC literate must be in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet.
