Position Summary
Reporting directly to the VP of IT, the Senior Manager, Network Administration is responsible for designing and implementing complex network infrastructures that meet the organization’s strategic goals. This role involves creating scalable, reliable, and secure network solutions, ensuring the network architecture supports current and future business needs. It also manages the stability, performance, and security of the network, including the setup and configuration of network hardware and software, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing network improvements.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  
 
  • Network Design & Architecture: Develop and design comprehensive network architectures that align with organizational objectives, incorporating considerations for scalability, redundancy, and security.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical network solutions.
  • Technology Integration: Evaluate and integrate new networking technologies and solutions, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and alignment with best practices.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze network performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and speed.
  • Security Management: Design and implement robust network security measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create detailed network documentation, including design diagrams, configuration files, and deployment plans. Prepare reports on network performance, changes, and improvements.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of network solutions and resolve technical issues. Assist IT Help Desk in resolving the tickets as needed.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure network designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are preferred.
  • 8+ years experience in network administration or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of network and system protocols, routing, switching, and security.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools, operating systems, and hardware.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical and/or healthcare applications preferred.
 
Core Competencies
  • In-depth understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and VPNs.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) and software (e.g., network management tools, monitoring systems).
  • Knowledge of cloud network architectures and services and their integration with on-premises networks.
  • Expertise in designing network topologies including LAN, WAN, and data center architectures.
  • Ability to design networks that can scale to accommodate future growth and technological advancements.
  • Knowledge of designing redundant network paths and failover mechanisms to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Ability to assess and address network vulnerabilities and respond to security incidents effectively.
  • Proficiency in using network monitoring tools and techniques to ensure optimal network performance and availability.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed network documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to network security (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
