Position Summary
Cosette is seeking a highly talented, experienced Associate Director of Business Development. This position will be responsible for proactively seeking out, evaluating, and executing upon new business opportunities for the organization in support of Cosette’s corporate strategy and business objectives.
Responsibilities
• Proactively identifying, assessing and negotiating BD opportunities that could enhance Cosette’s portfolio (Bx, Gx, Rx, OTC), in line with Cosette’s growth strategy.
• Assist in executing multiple transactions annually that will drive short-term and long-term EBITDA goals, including the implementation of licensing, distribution, development, M&A opportunities, and R&D collaborations.
• Collaborate closely with Alliance Management and the other functions to assess new growth opportunities pre- and during due diligences.
• Effectively structure sales forecasts, P&L’s, and to understand sensitivity and risk analyses and company valuations; deep knowledge of discounted cash flow, net present value (NPV), internal rates of return (IRR) and other risk analysis techniques.
• Integrate strategic and scientific knowledge into business models.
• Review and edit contracts and give direction to the legal in writing contracts.
• Develop and build as part of a team traditional and non-traditional deal structures and conduct and conclude negotiations.
• Efficiently and effectively lead a multitude of simultaneous projects with a high degree of independence.
• Consistently deliver on commitments in a timely manner.
• Assist in the portfolio development strategy by proactively researching, identifying and evaluating potential company, product and technology targets that are consistent with Cosette’s strategies and drive sustainable growth for the Company.
• Assist in the assessment and due diligence activities including but not limited to managing the interactions with external parties; overseeing the evaluation process; and timeline and developing timely recommendations and proposals for senior management consideration based on thorough and complete technical and commercial assessments.
• Develop effective deal structures, risk mitigation and negotiating strategies to ensure alignment with Company objectives.
• Effectively manage external and internal stakeholders including preparing opportunity assessments for executive-level audiences.
• Assist in assessments of key markets, companies, and technologies.
Qualifications
• Strong networking skills to reach out to a broad range of industry decision makers to keep abreast of emerging opportunities.
• Strong understanding of the product development, regulatory, and commercialization process for evaluation of target companies and products.
• Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills in a deal setting to creatively solve problems with partner companies and close deals.
• Leadership skills to drive projects to deliver timely results and follow through on commitments.
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate business strategies and capabilities internally and externally. Able to present individual and team recommendations clearly and concisely and promote cross-functional communication.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills to understand financial evaluations.
Education & Experience
• MBA and/or Advanced degree in Scientific Discipline preferred.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Pharmaceutical industry with at least 3 years in Business Development role.
• Knowledge of the M&A and licensing/business development process and landscape.
