Summary

As a Security Technician Apprentice, you will gain practical experience in assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems and CCTV systems.  You will work under the guidance of experienced technicians, learning the fundamental skills required to ensure the security and proper functioning of access control and CCTV solutions. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills and contribute to enhancing our customer's security measures.

Essential Functions

  • Ride Along with experienced Technicians
  • Assist with non-active cables and configuring integration components.
  • Learn to program and configure access control and CCTV systems to meet security requirements.
  • Participate in routine maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance of access control systems and CCTV.
  • Learn to identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues and assist in resolving technical problems promptly.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical knowledge of access control systems.
  • Other relative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Current and continued certification in at least one structured cabling system
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screen
  • Willingness to participate in a formal Apprentice education as described during interview process (evenings)

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
  • Eagerness to contribute and a positive attitude toward learning and professional growth.

Physical Demands 

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds, and occasional lifting over 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment  

Conditions will include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Subject to frequent heavy lifting.  May be exposed to variable weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
