Summary

Position will monitor financial performance for the district and ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls.  The district controller will serve as a resource for the financial and operational teams within the branches, as well as a resource for the Corporate Finance team and District operations leadership, including knowledge of the local ERP system and acquisition integration.  Expected travel is 25-30% (approximately one week per month). 

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with District Managers to monitor and improve district financial performance
  • Provide support, assistance, and training to branch accounting staff on internal controls, local ERP systems, operations, and company policies and procedures
  • Monitor appropriate weekly/monthly reporting for any exceptions to company’s policies, procedures, and controls, and follow up with branches to ensure action is taken
  • Manage financial statement reviews with branch personnel to ensure variance reporting and analysis of year to date results, helping districts achieve budget objectives and initiating corrective actions
  • Organize and oversee weekly cycle counting and annual full physical inventory counts
  • Help maintain the integrity of local ERP systems and data submitted to the corporate accounting group
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and performance of branch accounting personnel
  • Provide support to corporate accounting group as needed
  • Assist outside insurance, government & accounting auditors as needed
  • Assist with coordination of external audit process as needed
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting/business/finance preferred, CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of hands-on managerial accounting experience required
  • Experience with multi-unit organizational structures strongly preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with ERP and accounting systems required
  • Knowledge of commercial doors, frames, hardware or other building materials/construction experience preferred
