Who you are
The ideal candidate will be a sharp, energetic and experienced writer seeking to be an expert with a publication that provides helpful and unique information, reviews and analysis on consumer wearable technologies, services and trends.
What you’ll do
As a Senior Writer, you’ll cover US phone carriers, wireless plans, satellite phone connectivity and help cover other mobile products and events as needed. You'll contribute to CNET's mission by writing insightful, independent reviews, analysis, product roundups and comparisons, news, deep-dive features, best lists, and opinion pieces. This position is perfect for a writer who wants to be a leading voice in the mobile tech space globally.
What will your responsibilities be
- Broaden CNET's coverage of US phone carriers, wireless plans and satellite connectivity
- Update evergreen carrier articles, notably “best product” roundups, on a regular cadence
- Contribute feature stories, tips guides, opinion takes, and news articles
- Perform detailed testing and comparison of carrier connectivity, latency and speeds
- Maintain connections to major carriers like AT&T, Dish, T-Mobile and Verizon
- Peer-edit colleagues' work (sharp editing skills)
- Coordinate with companies to receive and return review products
- Take product photos or work with CNET's photographer to have products photographed
- Hit embargoes dates and times for products and news
- Advise others at CNET writing about carriers and wireless plans
What does it take to do this job
- Strong writing & presenting skills
- Ability to travel to events and announcements
- Knowledge for carriers and wireless plans
- Willingness to learn more about carriers and wireless plans
- Can flex between writing a commentary, a 1,500 word review and a product roundup
- 7+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge
- 2+ years of specialized/industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
