About the Role:
The Security Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team’s mission is to earn customer love through best in class compliance an enable business with risk informed decisions.
Our work includes but is not limited to maintaining security standards and regulatory compliance through external audits, managing risk register, generating risk reporting to senior management, building security policies & standards.
As a GRC Intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced security risk & compliance professionals, gain valuable hands-on experience, and contribute to critical security initiatives that demonstrate Confluent’s commitment to security & compliance.
- At the time of your start date, you will be required to be located in the location on your offer letter.
- You and your fellow interns will have access to office space to collaborate in person for a required two days a week.
- This internship requires a working, reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace. You will be required to work from your Austin-based home location three times per week.
- A $4,000 USD pre-taxed lump sum payment for a housing stipend at the start of your internship.
- A travel reimbursement (if required) for roundtrip airline flights (to and from the location of your internship to your home location) or driving mileage reimbursement.
- If you receive a return offer at the end of the internship, you will be based in Austin, Texas.
What You Will Do:
- Work with GRC team members to understand our audit management lifecycle
- Gain knowledge and experience on various security industry standards
- Assess and report on third party risks
- Understand how to measure a successful security program through KPIs and KRIs
- Maintain security register and report on top risks to the senior leadership
- Most importantly, we hope you’ll have fun while changing how the world works
What You Will Bring:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information System, cybersecurity or a related field with a graduation date between August 2025 - December 2026
- A curious mindset and genuine passion for cybersecurity, especially in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with standards like ISO, SOC, PCI, NIST CSF is a plus.
- Basic understanding of security concepts, networking, and protocols.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Quick learner with adaptability to new technologies.
- A positive attitude and a strong desire to contribute to the team's success.

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. This position has a fixed salary dependent on your degree: Bachelors $50/hr, Masters $55/hr, PhD $61/hr and includes a housing stipend.
