About the Role:

The Manager, Revenue Accounting plays a key leadership role in Confluent’s revenue recognition and order to cash process. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting, this role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy & compliance while driving process improvements, system implementations & policy influences to propel revenue accounting’s evolution as we scale for continued growth. You will present revenue results to leaders in Accounting and FP&A, as well as partner with Sales Ops, Technical Revenue, Cloud Product Management and Engineering, Accounting Transformation, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, as well as many other cross-functional business partners. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy of our revenue recognition, commissions accruals, and related accounting, in compliance with ASC 606, ASC 340 and our internal accounting policies.

You are an experienced CPA with at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or a publicly traded, high-tech organization with a minimum of 4 years in revenue specific roles. You should have experience from a global, growing software company that has on-premise software revenue and SaaS, preferably usage-based SaaS.  

What You Will Do:

  • Manage and lead the US global revenue close and reporting process, including the review of key controls, reconciliations, and other various forecast and reporting deliverables.
  • Propose significant process improvements, including automations and system enhancements.
  • Lead the Company’s quarterly revenue forecasting process, in partnership with FP&A team members.
  • Analyze new product, service and go-to-market strategies for their accounting results and develop methods of automating the accounting for those sales.
  • Ensure the Company’s revenue recognition accounting results are accurate and in compliance with ASC 606 and internal accounting policies.
  • Mentor, train, and develop the US Revenue Accounting Team and Shared Services Revenue Accounting team to ensure the two teams work as one unit for monthly closes and reporting.
  • Manage Revenue SOX compliance and ensure SOX requirements are met for relevant areas.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in accounting for usage-based SaaS contracts, on-premise term licenses, related professional services and education

What You Will Bring:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA certification or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of progressively responsible experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or a global, publicly traded high-tech organization with a minimum of 4 years revenue roles
  • 2+ years of people management
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, primarily revenue recognition (ASC 606) as it applies to on-premise software revenue and SaaS, preferably usage-based SaaS
  • Experience with system enhancement projects
  • Attention to detail and experience multitasking and prioritizing to deliver impact in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to simplify complex situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels at the company
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience using Netsuite and Netsuite ARM preferred, experience with other revenue accounting systems and Sales commission solution like Xactly also desired

We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $122,600 - $144,000, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
