About the Role:
We are seeking an engineer to join our Developer Productivity - Application Platform and Optimization team. In this role, you will contribute to our industry-leading developer platform vision encompassing the entire software supply chain, extensible service frameworks, resource lifecycle management, and onboarding experience. Your work and passion will directly influence the efficiency of our cloud and on-premise product releases by accelerating development for the entire engineering organization.
You will collaborate with all engineering teams and other key stakeholders to build out our secure, multi-tenant platforms and services that enable the delivery of new business opportunities across Confluent Cloud and Platform, including Kafka, kSQL/Flink, Connect, and more. You will help drive end-to-end technical delivery from developer onboarding to our internal operations supporting our customers. You are not confined to the status quo and you leverage your expertise in Cloud-native, large-scale distributed systems to help evolve our platform to become industry-leading.
What You Will Do:
- Deliver high impact to the business by designing and implementing solutions in local and CI build acceleration, developer platforms, toolchains, CI observability, supply chain security, productivity metrics, architectural direction, and major component refactoring across organizational boundaries.
- Automate service creation and evolution and enable developer self-service functionality as part of our journey to an Internal Developer Platform
- Identify and solve inefficiencies in our services to improve engineering productivity while automating everything
- Provide feedback into the overall architectural design, and delivery of architecture to determine when functions should be part of a common developer platform versus service unique.
- Partner across engineering and other key stakeholders to build and drive the roadmap for Developer Productivity
- Identify and standardize best practices to champion a great engineering culture across the company.
What You Will Bring:
- BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in coding and developing with any programming language (e.g., Go, Java, Python, etc.)
- Experience with Build frameworks and toolchains (e.g. Bazel, Gradle, Maven etc.)
- Working knowledge of source control management systems such as Git.
- Familiarity with software development tools (e.g Semaphore CI, Jenkins, etc.), and practices to streamline and optimize all aspects of the development lifecycle
- Technical expertise running large-scale distributed systems in production environments using cloud native technologies (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, etc.)
