About the Role:
As a key member of the FRA team, the Analytics Engineer will play an active role in advancing Confluent’s Data Driven and Self-Serve Reporting culture. This role will build data pipelines and models that make data accessible to the entire company, enabling reporting, analytics, and operation teams. The Data Engineer is encouraged to be innovative, explore new technologies, and push boundaries. Strong technical skills, a collaborative spirit, and a proactive attitude are essential for success. This position reports to the Director of Field Reporting & Analytics within the Global Process & Systems/GTMSO organization.
What You Will Do:
- Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement data quality, observability, and governance best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in streaming applications and distributed systems.
- Work with both the Field Reporting and Field Strategy Analytics teams to develop, establish and maintain datasets to help drive dynamic tools and reporting.
- Partner with analytics teams and business partners to produce internal data products (Certified Datasets).
- Communicate changes and updates of owned data sources to key stakeholders.
What You Will Bring:
- 1+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role, with a focus on data warehouse technologies, data pipelines and BI tooling.
- Bachelor or advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and of relational & cloud database systems and concepts.
- Experience with BigQuery preferred; experience with any other relational data warehouse.
- Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Trello, and Confluence.
- The ability to communicate cross-functionally, derive requirements and architect shared datasets.
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. That means being flexible and willing to jump in and do whatever it takes to be successful.
What Gives You an Edge:
- Basic understanding of Kafka, Flink, Spark, or other stream processing technologies (hands-on experience is a plus).
- Experience with Enterprise Go-to-Market (GTM) business systems such as Salesforce, Marketo, Zendesk, Clari, Anaplan, etc.
- Knowledge of batch and streaming data architectures.
- Product mindset to understand business needs, and come up with scalable data engineering solutions.

This position has an hourly estimated pay of $59 - $68 / hour. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
