Position Summary: 
  
The HR Generalis is an integral member of our overall Human Resources organization, responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department and the HR needs of the center. This position will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping the company to plan and administer important functions, such as staffing, employment processing, records management, employee relations and retention, compliance, and labor relations, as well as compensation and benefits.  
  
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Provide consultation and direction to management and staff on matters pertaining to employee relations’ activities. 
  • Respond to employee HR related inquiries. 
  • Responsible for monitoring all phases of FMLA and LOA for employees 
  • Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, job descriptions, and corrective action letters. 
  • Create onboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations. 
  • Maintain digital files for employees and their documents and attendance records. 
  • Create employee engagement plans, gain necessary budget approval and initiate activities. 
  • Participate in the development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements. 
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. 
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for assigned open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. 
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. 
  • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience. 
  • Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required. 
  • Participate in development of HR objectives and systems and ad-hoc HR projects. 
  • Work closely with payroll, benefits and other departments, exercising the utmost discretion while working with highly confidential information. 
  • Assists in conducting employee relations investigations. 
  • Conduct and review exit interviews and share feedback. 
  • Assist HR department in carrying out various human resources programs. 
  • Build and foster strong relationships with all areas of the business. 
  • Ability to work a variable schedule 
Qualifications/skills: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred. 
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience. 
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. 
  • Highly ethical and maintains strict confidentiality on all employee and HR related matters. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS systems; prior experience with ADP Vantage, Jobvite, and PeopleDoc a plus. 
  • Highly resourceful with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills with proven experience in employee communications. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, empathy, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Strong work ethic and integrity  
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work in a frequently changing environment. 
  • Comfort in making decisions independently AND know when asking questions or for help is appropriate. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • Courteous and professional demeanor with employees and candidates while also remaining assertive and confident. 
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred 
Environmental Factors: 
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment in a Distribution Center  
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 15 pounds 
  • This role requires on-site presence Monday through Friday.
