Quality Control Supervisor

 

Objective of the Position

The Quality Control Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to meet company standards and objectives established for the storage and distribution of consumer products to maintain product quality, safety, and compliance in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Supervisor oversees inspection and testing of consumer products to ensure adherence to established standards of strength, quality, and endurance.

Education/Status Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, or equivalent education/work experience

Work Experience Requirements

This position requires five or more years of experience in a quality control/assurance role; thorough understanding of current quality methods; experience using inspection tools, instruments, and electrical test equipment; general knowledge of applicable quality operation procedures (ANSI/ASQ, ISO9001); familiarity with GS1 Bar Code and Measurement standards; ability to organize and prioritize; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure; proven record of positive influence in safety and quality; ability to read, speak, write, and understand English in order to maintain required records; demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills; strong organizational, decision-making, and written/verbal communication skills; computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge/exposure to SAP; occupational and industry related certifications.

Essential Functions & Duties
  • Coordinate and lead the daily operations of the Quality Control Team
  • Supervise and direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning product quality and reliability
  • Maintain and ensure completion of compliance records and files pertaining to quality inspections of products and corporate quality procedures
  • Review and analyze inspection results for continuous improvement
  • Analyze product rejections to help create and implement corrective actions
  • Oversee handling and processing of nonconforming product
  • Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Maintain time and production records
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
  • Interface with other departments to develop and implement training programs as needed
  • Confer with workers and Human Resources to resolve grievances

 

Physical Requirements

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the associate  must have the ability to perform physical activities such as standing for prolonged periods of time, bending for prolonged periods of time, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively, and have good eye/hand coordination and motor skills.

Working Conditions

This position operates primarily in an office setting and may require duties in the warehouse.
