About the Role:
Waring Commercial is seeking an Institutional Sales Manager to lead growth within high-value institutional and contract foodservice segments. This role will focus on driving adoption of our equipment across contract operators (Compass Group (and affiliates), Sodexo, Aramark) as well as healthcare systems, universities, government facilities, and emerging industrial kitchen operators (e.g., CookUnity, HelloFresh, CloudKitchens, etc).
The successful candidate will combine strategic account management skills with deep understanding of institutional foodservice operations. You will act as a trusted advisor to operators, consultants, and distributors—building preference for our brand and ensuring our products are specified, piloted, and scaled.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Account Development
  • Build and manage executive-level relationships with Compass Group, Sodexo, Aramark, and other contract foodservice operators.
  • Develop long-term partnerships with healthcare systems, universities, and government agencies to influence specifications and procurement.
  • Identify and penetrate high-growth industrial/commissary kitchen operators (meal kit, prepared foods, cloud kitchens).
Market & Channel Influence
  • Collaborate with design consultants, specifiers, and culinary teams to ensure our products are used to replace legacy equipment as well as embedded in new project specifications.
  • Partner with internal teams, distributors and rep groups to execute pilots, ensure stocking, and drive sell-through.
  • Navigate Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and government bid processes (where applicable) to secure compliant, competitive positioning.
Growth & Execution
  • Lead pilots, menu application initiatives, and ROI-driven product demonstrations for institutional operators.
  • Collaborate with Waring Chefs, Marketing, and Product Development teams to develop vertical-specific messaging, training, and case studies.
  • Track market trends, competitor moves, and emerging operators to identify whitespace opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • 7-10+ years in foodservice equipment, institutional sales, or strategic account management.
  • Strong network within Compass Group, Sodexo, Aramark, or similar operators strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, education, and government foodservice environments, including GPOs and RFP/bid processes.
  • Experience influencing large-scale kitchen operations, commissaries, or industrial food producers a plus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with internal Sales, Marketing, Culinary, Product Development teams, as well as external distributors.
  • Strong business acumen, with consultative and data-driven selling approach.
  • Willingness to travel nationally (40–50%).

Environmental Factors: 
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Willing to travel 40-50% of the time.
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
  • This role is a remote position based in the Chicago area, New York City area or San Francisco area.
