Position Summary

Waring, a leading manufacturer of high-end commercial appliances globally and a division of Conair LLC, has an opportunity for a motivated and experienced Project Engineer.  This position reports to the Sr. Project Engineer, Waring division and will be in Torrington, CT.

As a project engineer, you will facilitate the design and manufacturing of exciting and revolutionary products. You will be working closely with the Product Development/Marketing team to create industry-relevant products that meet company specifications.

Design and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical commercial kitchen appliances based on marketing developed customer requirements. Develops products from inception to production and supports the active base of our products. Coordinates completion of engineering deliverables.  Accountable for successful completion of assigned projects

  • Develop prototypes and mock-ups of product ideas
  • Prepares testing protocols, test reports, and in-depth analysis of products
  • Coordinating with the product development team to finalize product ideas
  • Provides support to other business units by answering technical questions
  • Work closely with offshore engineering and manufacturing partners (Asia)
  • Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create products
  • Use Creo to develop models and drawings of new products
  • Create detailed documentation to track project development milestones
  • Participates in the planning process of new product introductions to assure successful new product launches


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field
  • 3-5 years of experience working in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Experience in designing and developing electrical appliances through all phases from concept engineering to mass production while maintaining schedules and cost goals
  • Project technical leadership and management
  • Heating and/or motorized experience
  • Conceptual and Product design knowledge
  • Material selection of plastics and metals
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing
  • Regulatory Experience preferred
  • NSF experience preferred

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time
  • Must be Covid-19 vaccinated
  • We currently operate on a hybrid schedule; candidate must be willing to come into the Torrington, CT office 50% of time
