Training Coordinator – Warehouse Operations
Summary
The Training Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all warehouse associates, from new hires to existing leaders, possess the skills and knowledge required for safety, efficiency, and professional growth. This role manages the entire training lifecycle, from new hire onboarding and technical instruction to administrative record-keeping and supporting leadership development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
I. New Associate Onboarding & Technical Training
- Coordinate and Facilitate: Manage the New Hire Orientation (NHO) process, including scheduling, preparation of materials, and delivery of core components (e.g., company policies, culture, benefits overview).
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct all mandatory safety training, including Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification (e.g., forklift, reach truck) and general warehouse safety procedures.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Deliver hands-on, on-the-job training (OJT) for critical functions such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Assessment: Conduct routine skills assessments and operational audits to ensure new hires demonstrate proficiency in all required tasks before being released to work independently.
II. Leadership Development & Continuous Improvement
- Gap Analysis: Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisors and Managers to identify specific skill and knowledge gaps within the leadership and associate teams.
- Program Support: Coordinate the scheduling, logistics, and enrollment for Leadership Development workshops (e.g., coaching, communication, performance management) for team leads and supervisors.
- Curriculum Maintenance: Review and update existing training modules, SOPs, and quick reference guides to reflect current warehouse processes, technology changes, and compliance updates.
- Culture: Promote a culture of continuous learning and safety through communication, bulletin boards, and ongoing refresher courses.
III. Administration & Record Keeping
- LMS Management: create and manage the Learning Management System (LMS) or training database, ensuring all employee training records are current and accurate.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on training completion rates, new hire pass/fail rates, compliance status (safety/PIT certification), and general training effectiveness for leadership review.
- Documentation: Create, file, and maintain all hardcopy and digital documentation, including attendance logs, signed certification forms, and training evaluation feedback.
- Compliance: Ensure all training documentation meets internal audit standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA).
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, HR, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in a training role, preferably within a distribution, manufacturing, or fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with a WMS and/or an LMS is strongly preferred.
- Skills: Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, strong organizational and time management abilities, and the capacity to teach complex information to diverse learning styles.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk the warehouse floor, and safely operate or demonstrate the use of warehouse equipment (including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally).
