Employment Services Coordinator - IDD (Full Time)
Description
Community Options, Inc., is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are now hiring an experienced Employment Services Coordinator to provide support in Manhattan, NY. The Employment Coordinator uses best practices and technology within a community-based employment setting to supervise and train individuals with developmental disabilities on how to acquire the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills needed to perform specific job tasks, work routine, and personal life activities critical to employment success. Their objective is to develop a pool of potential workers and employers, ultimately, placing and supporting consumers in the job, until they become better adjusted and more independent. This role will be based out of Manhattan will providing support to our Brooklyn and Queens regions as well.
Starting pay is $80,000 /per year
Responsibilities
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide direct support to employment specialists
- Responsible for contract disbursements for community-based programs
- Coordinate contract requirements relative to vocational and employment activities with the
appropriate agencies - Participate and assist in the continued development of the organization’s Business Advisory
Council (COBAC) - Sell and market job placements to employers in order to match a person’s skills with the job
- Make decisions to ensure consistent service delivery which connects work, home, social, and
recreational, and personal needs - Teach the consumer independent job skills and requirements utilizing job task analysis and job
specific supports, including assistive technology and personal assistance - Assist consumers in reinforcing essential skills or teach new skills appropriate to conducting a
successful job interview and complete a job application - Attend conferences, seminar, and training relevant to the position
- Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or
investigation
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; or high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum three years’
experience in related field, or minimum of one year as an employment specialist - Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with a person receiving supports
- Ability to analyze a job and break it into manageable components
- State trainings as required
- Crisis management skills
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background,
central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
