Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.   

We are now hiring a skilled Nursing Supervisor in Queens, NY. The Nursing Supervisor will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with learning physical, intellectual, emotional, and social life skills. This person delivers care to individuals with disabilities in a community setting, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. This person additionally effectively interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

Starting pay is $130,000/ per year

Responsibilities
  • Advise supervisor of all concerns and/or issues related to the provision of nursing services
  • Follow strict OSHA procedures regarding bloodborne pathogens and assess agency OSHA compliance
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and evaluation of nursing staff
  • Actively involved in the process of compliance with state regulations re: behavior medication by obtaining informed consent from guardians and individuals, communicating medication changes and implementation with staff, CSMS, BIS, research purpose for prescription medications and prescribed ranges, and communicate with staff
  • Interface with in-house psychiatric consultant and act as liaison between psychiatrist, pharmacy, individuals, guardians, and staff
  • Act as a liaison between the agency and pharmacy services by setting up pharmacy reviews, communicating results of pharmacy review with primary care physicians, troubleshooting systematic problems, communicating results of pharmacy reviews with individuals, staff, guardians during ISPs and semi-annuals
  • Provide first aid, medication supervision, and nursing services to Day Hab
  • Provide consultation services to other offices within the agency on an as-needed basis
  • Perform medication assessments on individuals and ensure individuals are actively involved in the learning process
  • Provide consultation services to other offices within the agency on an as-needed basis
  • Provide after-hour, on call services
  • Perform all duties necessary, in compliance with state approved objectives for Home and Community-Based Services (HCS)
  • Provide or assign staff to perform OSHA and RN training during NEO
  • Provides supervision for agency RNs and LPN
  • Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Team oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
