School Nurse Consultant-RN-State of Rhode Island

The Columbus Organization is expanding its team of Registered Nurses in Rhode Island.  Immediate opportunity for a State School Nurse Consultant to support the state’s Covid-19 Unit’s emergency response & recovery.  The position will provide leadership and technical assistance to the state and local education (LEAs) and health agencies that may include services to private, parochial, and charter schools, to strengthen the educational process and academic outcomes. Position is hybrid of remote and on-site.  Primary assignment is day shift but need flexibility for evening or weekend work if required.

Hourly Range: $34.00 to $38.00

Facility Physical Environment: Rhode Island Department of Health

Essential Duties: The State School Nurse Consultant (SSNC) provides leadership and technical assistance to the state and local education (LEAs) and health agencies that may include services to private, parochial, and charter schools, to strengthen the educational process and academic outcomes. When all students have access to improved health services, healthy educational practices and environments, students can be ready for learning. Detailed job description available upon request.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island
  • State certification as a School Nurse
  • Five years of experience in the practice of school nursing
  • Knowledge of common pediatric illnesses, syndromes, disabilities, and treatments.
  • Working knowledge of electronic health records and health information technology
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of RI School Health Rules and Regulations
  • Knowledge of and ability to use current internet and electronic systems and software (e.g., MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel); internet meeting platforms; simple computational and algebraic calculations
  • Valid Driver’s License recognized in the State of Rhode Island
