Colony Hardware is currently seeking a Service Tech - Trainee to join our team!

Reporting to the Service and Rental Manager, this position has primary responsibility for servicing and repair of power tools. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs on electrical and battery-operated power tools, gas equipment, outdoor power equipment, air compressors, generators, and other equipment.
  • Receives incoming repairs and creates proper documentation.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Provides customers with quality customer service demonstrating a sense of urgency to complete and deliver the repair.
  • Supports customer service needs onsite, as well as through phone support and e-mail communication.
  • Properly completes service reports and enters data appropriately through a designated computer system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn to read and comprehend tool schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in taking initiative to effectively obtain positive results.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks.
  • Experience in handling difficult customer service situations.
  • Must have a customer service mindset when dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills including speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.
  • Proficiency in use of computers including Microsoft programs.

Essential functions:

  • Physical dexterity for use of tools and ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to review and interpret computer images and written documents
  • Analytical ability including basic math skills
  • Ability to listen to and interpret customers' needs
  • Communication skills including speaking, reading, and writing

Must be able to travel to meetings, seminars, and training sessions. Excellent attendance, punctuality, and a customer service mindset are mandatory.
