Colony Hardware is currently seeking an Inventory Control Manager to join our team!

Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, the Inventory Control Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of stock. The Inventory Control Manager is also responsible for ensuring that all stock is at the required levels through the direct flow of goods into, through, and out of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages all inventory levels in the distribution center or similar space by use of scheduled cycle counts and creates new protocols for the department to follow.
  • Manages maintenance and production crew including creating work schedules and assigning work assignments.
  • Oversees and manages the Returns Department and the new product area, making sure that returns are being handled properly and new items are located properly.
  • Tracks usage of scanner system to receive and record new stock as it arrives at the distribution center.
  • Ascertains the quality of goods being delivered from vendors while also confirming that they are in excellent condition before being shipped to our customers.
  • Ensures that customer orders are filled and stock is moved to shelves and pallet positions.
  • Supervises usage of forklift and pallet jacks to ensure that staff is using equipment properly.
  • Prepares daily prior day back order reports and presents them to Director, CFO, and Sales group.
  • Utilizes prior day back order report to create branch count report and sends to branches so that they can check their stock and appropriate adjustments can be made.
  • Manage a team of branch inventory workers, stockers, and receivers and ensures all items are stocked on shelves and pallet racks correctly while performing housekeeping and down stocking.
  • Works with distribution center branch inventory team to address any problems and devise plans of action by reviewing and auditing practices.
  • Works with the IT Department to create reports and solutions for inventory irregularities.
  • Communicate with staff and other internal departments regarding shortages, overages, damages, etc.
  • Manages and maintains outside sales consignment and customer consignment accounts.
  • Audits pick/pack procedures on a regular basis
  • Works effectively with Service/Rental Department regarding their inventory control and product movement.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement personnel regarding theft-related incidents
  • Performs personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation including conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, and participating in onboarding activities.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on determining initial pay for new employees and salary/position changes to existing employees. 
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops existing employees and resolves performance problems and discrepancies.
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations by monitoring performance and initiating action to strengthen results with goal setting.
  • Implements and reinforces company policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:



  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • College degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a Distribution environment responsible for warehouse/driver management.
  • Valid Driver’s License. Motor Vehicle Record must show a record of sustained safe driving with no violations in the last 3 years.

    • Analytical ability including basic math skills.
    • Ability to navigate websites and able to see, review, and interpret computer images and written documents.
    • Excellent communication skills including speaking, reading, and writing in the English language with the ability to converse verbally with others on the phone and/or in person.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb stairs, stretch, and bend.
    • Must have outstanding customer service skills with the ability to interpret customer needs and demonstrate a customer service mindset when dealing with internal and external customers.

Physical requirements include:
Lifting up to 50 pounds while demonstrating safety techniques
Moving about the warehouse and loading dock area majority of the day
Exiting and entering vehicles several times per day
Must be able to climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in small spaces and various climates.

Forklift and motorized pallet jack.
Scanning equipment, such as RF scanners
Motor vehicles, such as vans and trucks
