Position overview

We are seeking an Automation Engineer/Scientist to join the Immune Decode Lab.  The primary role of the Engineer/Scientist is to lead the development and implementation of automated workflows to support scientific research objectives at Repertoire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible team player who will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment. You will work as part of a cross-functional team of immunologists, molecular biologists and protein scientists to successfully automate processes to ensure the ability to scale-up.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Work closely with scientific staff to develop automated workflows for molecular biology, next generation sequencing and cell culture applications
  • Establish and maintain automation protocols and documentation
  • Write scripts and/or software to drive operation of laboratory automation
  • Optimize and validate protocols to support scale-up efforts
  • Provide hands-on training to end users
  • Evaluate new technologies with an eye towards identifying improvements or resolving bottlenecks

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in scientific discipline or engineering field.
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience in laboratory automation systems and experimental workflow troubleshooting

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with Hamilton instrumentation is preferred
  • Experience in assay development, testing and validation procedures
  • Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing processes
  • Knowledge of molecular biology, immunology, genetics, and cancer biology 
  • The ability to think critically and perform functions with minimal guidance 
  • Impeccable documentation practices and attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to work hard in a fast-paced environment
