Position at CNO Financial Group, Inc.

The Senior Managing Actuary Corporate Actuarial prepares actuarial analysis for senior management understanding of current and strategic endeavors. They address the need to provide company wide analysis of expenses, financial projections, oversight of financial statement results, and support M&A activities. They coordinate annual reserve testing and annual financial planning. They manage and enhance our capabilities of our enterprise value model.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1.    Respond to SEC requests and form 10-K disclosures and prepare analysis for use by the Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Actuary, and Corporate Actuary
2.    Analyze and present findings to senior management on the reported margin and balance sheet through the development and review of current and future reports
3.    Coordinate enterprise actuarial projections for financial planning and reserve testing
4.    Present the analysis of capital by line of business to senior management and provide recommended actions (tactical and strategic) to improve capital efficiency within the insurance entities
5.    Develop and present  actuarial divestiture analysis and value recommendations for Corp Development (M&A)
6.    Develop actionable analysis regarding reinsurance
7.    Represent and present information to other business areas for various Finance initiatives, reviewing actuarial impacts
8.    Recommend strategic actions to maximize the company appraisal value as included in the Embedded Value model. Maintain the embedded value model for the insurance company based businesses
9.    Continues maintenance and enhancements of the enterprise value model
10.    Develop and overseen the product pricing confirmation process within Corporate Actuarial
11.    Coordination of annual stress testing

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Strong experience with mid-size life insurance company
Strong familiarity with interest sensitive products
Strong familiarity with financial reporting
Strong familiarity with actuarial reserve testing
Strong communication abilities
Strong presentation skills
Prior experience with product pricing
Prior experience with asset modeling
Well established modeling abilities, preferred
Strong familiarity with CNO and CNO practices

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related experience required

  • ASA required; FSA preferred

  • At least 10 years of actuarial experience required
