Position at CNO Financial Group, Inc.

CNO Financial Group, a Fortune 650 insurance company, has an opening for an Actuary, Traditional Life Valuation.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide and explain quarterly and annual GAAP, SAP and tax valuations for Traditional Life blocks of business
  • Assist in researching and performing senior level analysis on earnings. Provide explanations of variances of actual results to Plan.
  • Prepare and participate in delivery of GAAP earnings presentations to senior management
  • Prepare relevant annual statement exhibits and schedules
  • Assist in Loss Recognition Testing and prepare and participate in delivering LRT presentations to senior management
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley directives
  • Supervise one support staff member, while peer reviewing another
  • Appropriateness of experience assumptions
  • Validity and reasonableness of emerging experience and trends


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills


Education and Experience:

  • BS in Actuarial Science, Math or related fields required
  • ASA designation required
  • FSA or Member of the American Academy of Actuaries preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of actuarial experience required
  • Five years of experience with traditional life valuation preferred
  • Experience with PolySystem’s software, SQL, SAS, and other programming software preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
