Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Director to lead our tax and insurance functions. This position plays a critical role in protecting and optimizing the organization's financial position, ensuring compliance across complex domestic and international tax environments, and driving operational efficiency across a large-scale media investment business.

As a key member of the Finance team, you will partner closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to develop tax strategies, optimize cash flow, manage enterprise risk, and support long-term business growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead all aspects of federal, multi-state, and international tax strategy, planning, compliance, and reporting, including corporate income tax, sales and use tax, gross receipts taxes, VAT, transfer pricing, tax provisions, and related filings.
  • Partner with external advisors and auditors to manage tax audits, monitor legislative developments, and ensure compliance across all operating jurisdictions.
  • Oversee tax treatment within media investment proposals and client billing processes, ensuring accurate application of tax regulations and transparency for clients.
  • Manage day-to-day treasury activities, including cash forecasting, liquidity management, banking relationships, debt compliance, foreign exchange exposure, intercompany funding, and treasury technology solutions.
  • Develop and maintain treasury policies, controls, and processes that support scalability, efficiency, and financial stewardship.
  • Lead the organization's corporate insurance and risk management programs, including E&O, D&O, Cyber, General Liability, Property, and Workers' Compensation coverage.
  • Partner with brokers, insurance carriers, legal counsel, and business leaders to evaluate risk exposures, negotiate coverage, manage claims, and ensure compliance with contractual insurance requirements.
  • Support strategic initiatives, process improvements, automation efforts, and other projects that strengthen financial operations and business performance.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in tax, treasury, corporate finance, or related disciplines.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong experience with multi-state tax compliance, nexus management, and state apportionment.
  • Experience supporting international operations, including VAT, transfer pricing, and UK/EU tax regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cash management, liquidity planning and treasury operations.
  • Knowledge of corporate insurance programs and enterprise risk management practices.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, treasury management platforms, and tax technology solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big 4 public accounting experience combined with corporate industry experience.
  • Experience working within private equity-backed organizations or supporting M&A activity.
  • Background in media, advertising, professional services, or similarly complex service-based businesses.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing treasury management systems.
  • Familiarity with media industry tax considerations, including digital services taxes and production-related incentives.
  • Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles within media buying environments.
  • Additional certifications such as CTP or CPCU.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $90,000 to $180,000. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
