Location: Central U.S. | Experienced Jumbo Underwriters

POSITION OVERVIEW

CMG Home Loans is seeking an experienced Jumbo Underwriter to join our AIO (All In One) Underwriting Team. This is a specialized underwriting opportunity supporting CMG’s innovative All In One Loan, a unique mortgage solution that combines home financing with transactional banking functionality.

The AIO Underwriter is responsible for evaluating complex Jumbo loan files and making sound credit decisions in accordance with CMG, investor, and applicable regulatory guidelines. This position requires strong Jumbo underwriting expertise, including experience analyzing complex income, assets, credit, and collateral.

We are only considering candidates who have recent, hands-on Jumbo underwriting experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Underwrite Jumbo mortgage loans in accordance with CMG credit policies, product guidelines, and applicable investor requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of borrower credit, income, assets, liabilities, and collateral to determine overall creditworthiness and loan eligibility.
  • Analyze complex income scenarios, including self-employed borrowers, business tax returns, multiple income sources, and other non-standard income structures.
  • Perform manual underwriting and exercise sound credit judgment when evaluating complex loan scenarios.
  • Review appraisals and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable guidelines.
  • Clearly document underwriting decisions, conditions, and rationale within the loan file.
  • Communicate regularly with Loan Officers, Processors, and other business partners regarding loan decisions, outstanding conditions, and file status.
  • Review and clear underwriting conditions as additional documentation is received.
  • Maintain accurate and complete loan notes and conversation logs in Byte to document file progression and underwriting decisions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of AIO, Jumbo, investor, and company underwriting guidelines and product requirements.
  • Serve as an underwriting resource for complex loan scenarios and provide guidance regarding credit policy and underwriting requirements.
  • Assist with training and knowledge sharing as needed.
  • Complete ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience with significant recent Jumbo underwriting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of Jumbo lending guidelines and complex borrower scenarios.
  • Extensive experience analyzing self-employed borrowers and complex income, including personal and business tax returns.
  • Strong manual underwriting experience and demonstrated ability to make independent credit decisions.
  • Experience analyzing complex asset, credit, income, and collateral documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply detailed underwriting, investor, and credit guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple loan files and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mortgage loan origination systems; experience with Byte is a plus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Reports: None

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as an underwriting resource and provide guidance or training to other team members.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

This role operates in an ADA-compliant office environment and utilizes standard office equipment, including computers. The position may require extended periods of computer work as well as movement throughout the workday. Flexibility to work additional hours as business needs require may be necessary.

COMPENSATION

Base Salary: $95,000–$105,000+, plus per-file incentive compensation and potential overtime.

Actual base compensation will be determined based on factors including relevant Jumbo underwriting experience, depth of mortgage industry experience, underwriting knowledge and designations, technical skills, education, and other job-related qualifications.
