The Opportunity    
As Bayer Crop Science's digital farming arm, we advance regenerative agriculture and technology breakthroughs using the latest agronomic science, data science, engineering, and real-world farming experience. With groundbreaking technologies like Climate FieldView and our ForGround regenerative agriculture platform, our team is a part of some of the most important advancements in ag. 
We are looking for a Design Operations & Design System leader that is naturally curious, entrepreneurial, and has a track record of delivering end-to-end digital products, from vision and strategy to coordinating design delivery. Since this role is focused across both mobile and web, we are looking for a deep understanding of the current state of web & mobile best practices, deep knowledge of design systems, experience implementing design operations (DesignOps), and expertise across a broad set of design tools. 
This role reports to the Head of UX Design at Climate. 
  
Your Seat at the Table 
  
Design has a clear seat at the table and shares the responsibility for product planning, execution, and success. You’ll be looked to as an expert in your field who will be held accountable for establishing and implementing the design system strategy & design operations that will support the end-to-end experience across our suite of digital products. 
Key Job Responsibilities:   
  • Craft the Design System Strategy: Own, evangelize, and execute the design system plan, roadmap, and approach in partnership with Bayer Global design teams. 
  • Forge Connections: Build strong relationships across Marketing, UX, and Front-End Engineering, understanding their needs and partnering to build and evolve the design system approach. 
  • Drive Alignment: Communicate down, up, and out on design system decisions across organizational entities and influence adoption and utilization of design best practices. 
  • Craft Exceptional User Experiences: Set a high bar for usability, accessibility, functionality, and visual appeal. Zoom in and out between meticulous attention to detail and the broader vision. 
  • Craft and Build Key Components and Patterns: Design and develop core components, reusable patterns, and standards for the design system, directly contributing to the evolution and refinement of digital products. Collaborate closely with UX designers across teams to ensure consistency, usability, and scalability, setting a high standard for design quality and system cohesion. 
  • Execute Flawlessly: Consistently evolve the design system and design practices, embracing rapid iterations as needed. Develop clear and effective practices & processes for design across product teams and with engineering partners to ensure the team delivers quickly and efficiently. 
  • Empower Our Team: Mentor and uplevel designers, cultivate a culture of collaboration, enabling UX designers & product squads to excel and deliver impactful, high-quality, consistent work. 
Who You Are 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in design-related field 
  • 10+ years of UI/UX design experience 
  • Available online portfolio 
  • Hands on experience building, developing, and evolving design systems for mobile & web 
  • Experience with best practices for User Experience Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design 
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and technical implementation of design in code 
  • Experience understanding brand standards and guidelines and translating into design systems 
  • Experience conducting UX audits and translating findings into actionable insights for design & engineering implementation 
  • Proficiency with Figma and Figma-based design systems 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to summarize complex technical programs into a broader compelling narrative 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Deep technical knowledge of translating design libraries into code (Theme/Token Architecture, etc) 
  • Knowledge and experience with various Front-End development frameworks & libraries 
  • Understanding of digital agriculture or related industries

Base salary estimated range between $125k – $187k annually, depending on the hiring location. You may also be offered bonuses, RSUs cash equivalent, or commission.
