About the Job
As the DevOps Lead, you will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of DevOps, DevSecOps, and software engineers to drive the continuous improvement of the development lifecycle. This role will oversee and manage the DevOps team, including experienced DevOps engineers, DevSecOps engineers, working with project managers, ensuring seamless integration of security best practices, automation, and innovation across the entire development and deployment process.

You will guide the team in architecting and maintaining cutting-edge CI/CD pipelines, managing infrastructure as code, and implementing security practices to safeguard OTTO’s products and internal infrastructure. This position is ideal for a dynamic, experienced leader who can balance technical oversight with team management to deliver high-quality and secure development environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of DevOps, DevSecOps and product security engineers, ensuring they have clear goals, roles, and development opportunities.
  • DevOps Strategy: Develop and implement the overarching DevOps strategy in collaboration with stakeholders, driving continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) initiatives.
  • Security Integration: Work closely with the DevSecOps engineers to ensure security best practices are embedded into every phase of the software development lifecycle. Ensure automated security checks are integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Project Delivery: Oversee the successful execution of projects from inception through release, ensuring timelines, budgets, and resource allocations are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Process Automation: Lead the design and improvement of automated testing, deployment, and monitoring processes to enhance developer productivity and system reliability.
  • Collaboration: Foster cross-functional collaboration between DevOps, security, engineering, and product teams to ensure smooth project execution and consistent communication.
  • Performance Monitoring: Ensure observability and performance monitoring are embedded into all infrastructure and pipelines, driving proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure adherence to compliance standards such as SOC and PCI, implementing necessary controls and safeguards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for DevOps-related matters, providing regular updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and team performance.
  • Innovation: Stay up to date on emerging DevOps and DevSecOps trends and technologies, and champion their adoption within the organization where appropriate.
About You
You are an experienced DevOps leader with a deep understanding of automation, security integration, and team management. You are passionate about driving operational excellence, promoting security as a core component of the development lifecycle, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture. You are comfortable leading distributed teams and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps with significant experience managing or leading teams, including both DevOps and DevSecOps engineers.
  • Proven experience designing and managing complex multi-stage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience in DevSecOps, including integrating SAST/DAST/SCA tools into CI/CD pipelines, and working with pen-testing tools like OPSWAT.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, including deploying, securing, and managing infrastructure and services in cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with security compliance frameworks like SOC and PCI.
  • Experience leading remote teams in a collaborative virtual environment.
  • Proven ability to manage project delivery, with a focus on balancing security, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Skills:
  • CISSP, CDP, or DevSecOps-related certifications.
  • Experience with NixOS and software packaging tools (Debian/apt).
  • Experience working in the robotics industry or familiarity with ROS.
