About the Job    
OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation is looking for an applications devops specialist to join the Fleet Applications team.    
In Fleet Applications, we are responsible for the design, development, and support of software applications created to allow our customers to interact with, monitor and support their fleets of OTTO Autonomous Vehicles. This involves participation in the entire product workflow, from customer insight gathering, problem definition, solution proposals, application design, development, and support.    
For this role, we are seeking an individual to join the fleet application development team to help  us build and support industry defining applications for working with autonomous vehicles and fleets. You would be working closely with the other members of the development and devops teams, supporting them in providing awesome solutions to the problems our customers want to solve with their fleets of OTTO vehicles.    
As an Applications DevOps Specialist, your primary responsibilities will be:    
  • Supporting and improving the Application team’s build, development and deployment processes. This includes:    
    • Maintaining kubernetes and helm charts and automating their updates    
    • Updating gitlab-ci processes to improve product and process reliability    
    • Supporting and investigating automated build pipeline concerns and issues    
    • Optimizing product deliverables, minimizing resource requirements and deployment times    
  • Creating new scripts and processes for automating test, security and dependency management tooling    
  • Working directly with senior development and devops staff to assist in build and deployment architectural changes and evolution    
  Required Experience / Skills:    
  • 2-5 years of related experience    
  • Experience creating, hardening and managing kubernetes clusters and helm tooling    
  • Familiar with build automation tools, such as gitlab-ci and jenkins    
  • Working with NodeJS and npm, particularly in the context of generating production applications using those technologies    
  • Creating and maintaining scripts to automate various part of build and deployment processes    
  • Using git or other source control tools    
  • Comfortable in a bash terminal on Unix based systems    
  • Writing development and architecture documentation    
  • Working in a collaborative environment, interfacing with other team members regularly, sharing knowledge via diagrams, discussion, and examples    
  Bonus Points For:    
  • Nginx configuration and management    
  • Understanding web based security systems and methodologies    
  • Code vulnerability and quality scanning and investigation    
  • Debian package building    
  • Experience using artifact repositories like JFrog and harbor    
  • Familiarity with creating npm modules    
  • Experience using Nix
