 About the job

The Fleet Software Group is responsible for the design, development, testing and support of the Fleet Manager and software applications that allow our users to interact with, monitor, and support their fleets of OTTO Autonomous Vehicles. This involves participation in the entire product workflow, from customer insight gathering, problem definition, solution proposals, application design, development, and support.
For this role we are seeking an individual to lead a sub-team within the Fleet Test team that focuses on supporting our virtualized large fleet deployments of 100 robots as well as our deployment automation and simulation testing. You will be working closely with other members of the test, continuous integration, simulation & Fleet software development teams as well as many other groups within OTTO Motors, in order to provide awesome solutions to the problems our customers need to solve with their fleets of autonomous materials transport vehicles.
Responsibilities:
  • Managing a team of 2-3 individuals on a day to day basis. 
  • Developing and maintaining a roadmap for driving quality in robot fleets at scale.
  • Supporting the maturity of our Large Fleet System processes. 
  • Troubleshooting issues with test automation frameworks.
  • Supporting continuous integration tools, and infrastructure.
  • Designing test campaigns and documenting test results. 
  • Executing tests for full system, component, simulation and performance.
  • Capturing issues and artifacts, establishing a strong feedback loop back into development.
Skills and experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development or test automation in an enterprise environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of test development management experience. 
  • Diagnosing and narrowing down the source of issues.
  • Working with Linux/Ubuntu based environments and scripting (bash, python).
  • Using continuous integration (Jenkins, gitlab ci) and source control (git).
  • Creating and maintaining scripts to automate various parts of deployment processes and knowledge of configuration management technologies (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.) 
  • Experience with container orchestration & tooling (.e.g Kubernetes, Helm).
  • Understanding web technologies and concepts such as REST API, WebSockets, client-side rendering. 
  • Working in a collaborative environment, interfacing with other team members regularly, sharing knowledge via diagram, discussion, and example.
Bonus Points For:
  • Experience with DevOps best practices. 
  • Experience using artifact repositories like JFrog and harbor
  • Familiarity with using monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Netdata)
  • Exposure to ROS / Robotics Systems.
  • A memorable story on breaking software.
