Transportation Finance Coordinator

Position Overview 

The Transportation Finance Coordinator reports to the Finance Director and is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of customer invoices. Duties include processing invoices in the TMS (Transportation Management System - MercuryGate) by verifying customer rates, freight charges, processing accessorial charges, mileage, fuel, etc. This position communicates with customers and carriers to resolve disputes related to rates and verify approval of accessorial charges. This position works in close collaboration with the Carrier Management, IT, and Transportation Operations teams in the development, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the underlying processes and systems that support the day-to-day activities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, calculating, and creating customer transportation invoices timely and accurately
  • Data entry and audit of carrier invoices
  • Retrieval, authorization and input of additional charges, issuance of credit memos, and other billing adjustments using AS400, Excel spreadsheets, and JDEdwards
  • Perform daily accounts payable close procedures
  • Timely and accurate review of JDEdwards voucher batches and invoice submissions
  • Respond to inquiries related to customer invoicing and accounts payable activity from internal employees and external customers and carriers

Job Qualifications - Required 

  • Associates degree preferred, high school diploma required
  • Knowledge of transportation tariffs
  • Numeric data entry experience
  • Attention to detail, conscientiousness and organizational skills a must
  • Excellent phone manners and communication skills
  • Must be team oriented, able to work independently and cooperatively
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
