Manager, Continuous Improvement

Position Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Manager will lead the implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of the CJ Logistics Operating System to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize service and profitability.  This person will collaborate with internal and external customers to analyze current performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and establish action plans to optimize performance.  This role will utilize lean techniques and thinking to drive operational success.  As well, will motivate others and drive continuous improvement by being a change agent that leads by example.

Salary range - $103,000-$125,000

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and sustained execution of the CJL Operating System within existing and new Logistics Center Operations.
  • Facilitate network-wide business transformation projects as needed; provide subject matter expertise, project management, and implementation support as required. 
  • Lead assessment and integration of customer business requirements with the CJ Operating System;  ensure proposed solutions fit in terms of quality, functionality, and overall integrity, and done so in a cost-effective way.
  • Evaluate operational performance to identify issues or opportunities for improvement, and engage with customers and internal leadership to creatively solve problems and drive successful performance.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop strategies that improve overall organizational effectiveness and capabilities, and contribute to organizational scalability and sustainability.
  • Develop and document recommended business process design solutions with the mindset of reducing complexity and creating universal standards.
  • Lead support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement efforts in a manner that achieves buy-in from all levels of employees and facilitates effective and lasting change.
  • Create and maintain process and project documentation for reference and training purposes.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff and new members of the team.
  • Clearly communicate project status, risks & opportunities, as well as benefits to a variety of business stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work.
  • 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Warehousing, or Transportation
  • A sharp eye for identifying weak points in processes and organizational structures.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to document details.
  • Experience with Tier 1 WMSs, especially Blue Yonder.
  • Validated skills in meeting/workshop facilitation and collaboration, including the ability to drive alignment and decision-making
  • Ability to summarize detailed requirements into a digestible, fluid message that can be tailored for multiple levels of the organization.
  • Capable of being a strong team member while able to manage your own priorities.
  • Ability to travel around 50% with flexibility to travel up to 75% at times
  • Stand and walk in a warehouse environment that is not climate-controlled for hours at a time.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends when traveling.
